Agri-impact Consult Train Agric Institutions on Green House Farming

The program which began on December 1, 2014 centered on greenhouse production and
Agri-entrepreneurship training.

According to Dan Acquaye, the Executive Director of Agri-impact Consult, “…in this day and
age of technology, efficiency is the watchword that is why it is no longer the size of the land of a
farmer but what he can get out the little land available. This is the reason we have introduced green
house farming technology in Ghana”

“...we have also realized that there is a big gap between the Agric industry and academia. So we realize
that students graduates move around looking for jobs whiles there are investors also looking for people
with the requisite skill to employ. So what we are doing is to bring the needed skill and latest technology
to the door step of the students to make them employable”.

The training Program, which was being supported by ASNAPP with funding from the Skills Development Fund (SDF),
covered topics from farming as a business, entrepreneurship and techniques in greenhouse production.

Selected institutions include KNUST, MoFA, Kumasi Institute of Tropical Agriculture (KITA), Adidome Farm institute
and Asuansi Farm Institute.

According to Mr. Acquaye, the training has increased their competitiveness and productivity of horticultural
operators in Ghana, thereby accelerating meaningful growth within the Agricultural sector for a transformation
in the local Ghanaian economy.
